Urgent Request to Return

I hope the scout I hired to track you down succeeds and this letter reaches you. When you left the capital so suddenly, none knew where you'd gone. You left a giant hole in the council.

I'm doing my best to lead the council as your replacement, but things are dire. It's worse than when you left. With no trace of the King, the empire continues to fracture. We cannot keep the peace, much less properly research and understand the unholy current that creeps further into our lands each week.

You said you couldn't continue your work in the city, but is this not where you ought to be? Is it not the heart of it all? Wherever you have gone, surely your efforts would be better spent in concert with your fellow wizards. We need your skill and wisdom now more than ever.

I fear things will get worse. How long will the council remain, I do not know. It's possible bandits take the city (the Protectorate stand by and have done nothing to stop them).

I plead with you, please return at once. Let us speak together and discern the best path, for our sake, and for the people.
