Aldrova's Rise: A History - Part 2
By Elara Swiftquill, Council of Wizards, Year 1144
Welcome back, esteemed reader! Elara Swiftquill returns with the second volume of the captivating chronicle of the Kingdom of Aldrova. If you have not perused the first volume, I highly recommend doing so, as it offers invaluable context for the narrative I am about to unveil.
Now, where were we? Ah, yes, the Unifier, the enigmatic figure who vanquished the formidable Keripis Empire, rallying the people under Aldrova's emblem. In this volume, we shall delve deeper into the mysteries of the Unifier's power, which some of my Council peers would prefer to keep concealed.
Indeed, dear reader, I have engaged in numerous debates with my fellow Council members regarding the Unifier's abilities. They stubbornly maintain that magic was a scarce and obscure force during those bygone times, and that they alone possess mastery over its secrets. As you might surmise, I find this notion absurd.
But let us set aside their misconstrued beliefs. Let us probe the subject at hand - the Unifier's mystical secrets. Historical records and legends alike depict the Unifier brandishing supernatural powers, altering the course of battle with a mere gesture or incantation. While it is true that much of this wisdom has been swallowed by the sands of time, I have dedicated my life to unearthing the truth.
In one such account, a frayed scroll I chanced upon in the shadowy recesses of a forsaken library, the Unifier is described as conjuring storms to disperse enemy fleets or erecting walls of stone to shield his armies. Such feats surpass the capabilities of even the most adept mages on the Council today, yet my colleagues dismiss the notion.
Perhaps they dread the idea that they are not as potent as they presume, or they are simply too proud to concede that their knowledge of magic is not exhaustive. Regardless of their motives, I refuse to be stifled by their narrow-minded perspectives.
Throughout my investigations, I have unearthed whispers of ancient magical artifacts, forgotten techniques, and even clandestine agreements with Realm Walkers that may have bestowed upon the Unifier his extraordinary faculties. As I persist in my pursuit of the truth, I invite you, esteemed reader, to accompany me in uncovering the magical heritage of the Kingdom of Aldrova.
Anticipate the next volume, where we will delve into the period of abundance under the Unifier's reign, and scrutinize the impact of magic on the kingdom's expansion. Until then, let us never cease seeking the truth, regardless of the inconvenience it may cause those who would prefer we remain in the shadows.
