Gremlin Hordes: A Guide

By Eldas the Adventurer, Year 1145

One of the many places I encountered during my journey across the continent was a small patch of hilled forest that had been claimed by a horde of gremlins.

I'd taken on a fair few of these beastly cretins in my time, but the numbers here were too great to justify an assault.

Alone or in smaller groups they scarcely pose a real threat, wielding rudimentary spears and hurling stones as they normally do. But in greater numbers, they pose a savage threat.

When they attack in packs, they bolster their chances of overwhelming even a powerful adventurer like myself, especially when they come at you from all sides. Some laugh when you suggest gremlins working together, but I've found them to be more quick witted than I initially surmised.

One thing to note about the aforementioned encampment was its sheer size. In the past I'd seen them gathering in smaller groups of less than a dozen in one place. But there had to be at least a few dozen or more living on that little hill.

Too many bodies usually meant lots of in-fighting because of their poor temperament and bestial nature. I even saw what looked like small structures. Not only are they getting along better, but they are learning basic infrastructure.

And as for the threat they pose, I witnessed something else that even I scarcely believe. Gremlins practicing magic!

Only one or two members at most, but there was definite spellcasting going on. I doubt they understood what they were doing, but that doesn't negate the results. I wonder, was it very different when we first experimented?
