Age of Storms: Serena's Account

By Kiaya Vorahan, excerpt from a history textbook, Year 938

Considering the events in question, it should not surprise you to hear many tomes were lost following the cataclysm. Some consumed by the countless fires left in its wake and still others from the torrential floods which persisted long after the unrelenting chaos had ceased.

Nearly all writings from the Dyrisians – including those housed in the once-great libraries of the Eastern Islands – disappeared when they were swallowed by the sea. A few Nowbekian writings were found in the centralized cities, shielded from the harsher storms by a mountain range.

One such personal account is that of a young woman who grew up in the plains of O'Beksal, a town hit early on; razed to the ground in the initial days of The Age.

As near as we can tell, Serena Arkova, was born just a few short years before the disasters began. Her harrowing tale of watching her own father ripped away so suddenly continues to be the cause of many sleepless nights...

--- (written erratically in the margins of the page)

Can you believe this drivel, Francis? I refuse to accept that the magistrate wants us to use such inane and utterly baseless rubbish to "educate" our students.

What Vorahan calls a "personal account" is nothing more than the ravings of a lunatic who can barely remember her parents' faces, let alone accurately recall events that took place when she was little more than an infant...

That's children teaching children and I will not have it!!
